|Can hypnosis be bad for your health? No. My guess would be that all medical practitioners would agree on the health benefits of relaxation. Relaxation helps to bring about a homeostatic balance – a balance within the system of mind, body and soul, emotionally and physically. The problem is that a lot of doctors say to people, “you need to learn to relax”, but they never really give them the tools for knowing “how to relax”. Relaxation is extremely important for your health.||19 Jul, 2016 11:20 AM|
|Can you get stuck in hypnosis and be unable to wake up?No one ever gets "stuck" in hypnosis. Remember that hypnosis is a natural and normal state to be in from time to time. It's not a state which is completely alien to us. Of course, hypnosis is a subjective experience and everyone will experience it differently, but the worst that could possibly happen is that you drift into natural sleep, and after 5 or 10 minutes you wake up naturally. Some people may use hypnosis as a bridge into natural sleep. In my private hypnotherapy sessions, some people have been kept awake by their stress, and when hypnosis relaxes them, they have naturally fallen asleep. This is not a problem. But remember, you'll never get stuck in hypnosis and be unable to wake up.||19 Jul, 2016 11:30 AM|
|Will I be asleep or unconscious when in hypnosis? No. You're not asleep and you're not unconscious, you're fully aware of what's happening around you. Of course, everyone's experience is slightly different. Some people feel light, some feel heavy, but almost everyone feels extremely relaxed. Generally, when people are in a deep state of hypnosis, they feel as if their body has gone to sleep but the mind is still alert, awake, and aware. If you do fall into a natural sleep, then don't worry. I've always believed that if people feel they're drifting off to sleep when listening to a self-hypnosis session, it's fine; it'll still do its work.||19 Jul, 2016 11:30 AM|
|Will I become dependent on the hypnotist?Remember, you have a conscious awareness during hypnosis, and are in full control. If the hypnotist were to ask a subject to do anything inappropriate, most people would pull themselves out of it spontaneously. The best, most professional and ethical hypnotherapists work in a way that makes the client feel empowered, rather than working in an authoritarian way where problems may result.||19 Jul, 2016 11:30 AM|
|In hypnosis, will I be able to recall everything that's ever happened to me?No. Certain therapists use certain specific techniques that may help a person remember certain things from the past if that's going to be useful for them. This is called regression work. But you will not recall all your memories.||19 Jul, 2016 11:30 AM|
|What does it feel like to be hypnotized?Hypnosis feels different to different people. Some people feel light and tingly, others heavy, and some people feel numbness. Some people find their eyes tear up or that they swallow more. But most likely, you will feel like you are deep inside yourself but still aware that you are in a room, in a chair, being guided into hypnosis.||19 Jul, 2016 11:31 AM|
|What are some different issues that hypnosis can help with?People come to see hypnotists for many different reasons. The most common reasons are to help overcome addictions and habits, such as smoking cessation and weight loss. Other people come to relieve stress and anxiety, or even to get help with fears and phobias. Some clients come to enhance certain attributes such as sports performance and study skills.||19 Jul, 2016 11:31 AM|
|Do hypnotists have special powers? The thought that hypnotists have 'special powers' originates from Hollywood movies. This is understandable, as there's a deep mystery surrounding hypnosis. The truth is that hypnotists don't have any special powers. They just have knowledge and experience in the skill of inducing hypnosis. With sufficient effort and practice, most people could probably induce hypnosis. Of course, the real skill is in what way you use it, and how you use the hypnotic state to help people.||19 Jul, 2016 11:31 AM|
|Does hypnosis only work on certain people? No. While it's true that hypnosis can be more useful for some people than others, I would say it's mainly comes down to the person's motivation, their willingness, and their ability to concentrate. As far as I'm concerned everyone is suggestible to some degree. If you're interested in something and it's something that you want, generally you're open to its effects. It's the same with hypnosis. If you want it to work and you co-operate, then you'll reap the benefits.||19 Jul, 2016 11:31 AM|
|Are people who get hypnotized weak minded? No. It's quite the opposite. Without doubt, it's the people who can concentrate well and have a creative imagination that are, if you want to use the term, the best 'hypnotic subjects'. These types of people go into hypnosis easier and deeper than anyone else. We're all susceptible to suggestion, but to varying degrees. If someone is offering me something useful, then I will work towards achieving it. It would be really silly to work against something that will benefit you. So it's really not true that people who are hypnotized are gullible or weak minded.||19 Jul, 2016 11:31 AM|
|When in hypnosis, can I be made to say or do something against my will?Hypnosis is a state of heightened suggestion. Generally, people won't do anything which goes against their personal values or beliefs. What you have to remember about hypnosis is that it's not sleep. You're aware of everything happening around you. If someone tells you to do something that is really against your values, then you won't do it. You'll come out of the state of hypnosis, and in fact, you'd almost be shocked out of hypnosis. It's as simple as that!||19 Jul, 2016 11:32 AM|
|I don't think I can be hypnotized.Anyone can be hypnotized if they are willing and open. Sometimes a person might not realize that they are in a hypnotic trance because it does not feel much different from a normal waking state.||19 Jul, 2016 11:32 AM|
|Will I lose control? You cannot be made to do anything that you are not basically willing to do. People who "cluck like chickens" for "entertainment" hypnosis are those who don't mind "clucking".||19 Jul, 2016 11:32 AM|
|Isn't hypnosis pretty much the same as being asleep? Most people are aware of what is happening while they are in a hypnotic trance state. You can hear what is happening and can come "out of" hypnosis if you chose at any time. In cases where pain reduction or anesthesia is needed you will be trained to go into deeper states like somnambulant states, which can be like sleep.||19 Jul, 2016 11:32 AM|
|I'm afraid I won't remember the session.Although some people do not recall all of the session, most people have memory of what happens in the session. When hypnosis is used for therapeutic purposes, the person usually does recall what is important for them to remember.||19 Jul, 2016 11:32 AM|

|I want to stop smoking. But like so many other people today I am wondering about the price. Is there a cost for the in-depth consultation? How much does a session cost? How many sessions does it take to be able to stop smoking? If hypnosis works to help me stop smoking, can it work to relieve other issues I may have like stress, or desire to exercise on a routine basis?|
Thank you for your time.
The 3 package session is $300 and includes a consultation, 3 hypnosis sessions, and CDs of the session that you can listen to at home.

|I have psoriasis but my problem is that the psoriasis has focused my strong OCD on other parts of my skin (non-psoriatic parts) that I scratch and am destroying. Can hypnosis stop me from doing that? Also I have other more general problems that might not lend themselves to hypnosis. Do you handle other type therapies? Finally, do you take Blue Cross and handle the paperwork yourself?Absolutely! Hypnosis can help break many unwanted habit patterns, including scratching. In addition, since one of the reasons for psoriasis "flare-ups" can be emotional stress, hypnosis can help teach you to relax and reduce the stress that causes the irritation, resulting in less itching as well as helping to strengthen your overall immune system.|
Yes, I also do other types of therapies, including meditation instruction, chakra balancing, diet and wellness counseling and more.
We do not bill for insurance reimbursement.

|Will a person tell the truth about something if asked while under hypnosis?Since a person in hypnosis still is in control of what they say and do, they can lie just as easily as when awake. The key to encouraging truthfulness is to have a trust and non-judgmental acceptance from the person working with them.||19 Jul, 2016 11:35 AM|

|Hello you say you can help me quit smoking for $300 do you guarantee this?????????While hypnosis is a very effective tool which can help you to quit smoking and break other bad habit patterns, it is not a guaranteed method; unless, of course, you would like to hire us to follow you as a paid companion. ;)|
Seriously, though, hypnosis is a tool which means you have to put the effort into it before it will do anything. It just makes the job easier.

program, thankHypnosis is certainly an extremely helpful tool for those in the healing professions. Our course offers the chance to learn through doing. We arrange for someone that has never been hypnotized to come in so that you are sure they are giving un-rehearsed responses to give you a hands-on learning experience. Of course, there is always time to work with the other students in the class so you will have the opportunity to be hypnotized yourself.
At the end of the course, you will be required to complete 25 additional hours of practice before submitting your application to the National Guild of Hypnotists for certification. Once that is completed and you have met all the course requirements you will be a certified hypnotist through NGH. Please call if you have more questions or to register for our next Training Seminar. |What license is required to start you on business in Hypnothery in NC. Can you say that you are a counselor in the field after taking your coarse. To my knowledge, there is no licensing board in the state of North Carolina that governs "hypnotists". Please keep in mind that a hypnotist and a hypnotherapist are two different professions. In order to market yourself as a hypnotherapist, you would have to have some kind of clinical background, or be a licensed medical professional, to justify representing yourself as a therapist of any type. Our course allows you to become a certified hypnotist by receiving your certification through a nationally recognized guild (National Guild of Hypnotists).||19 Jul, 2016 11:45 AM|
|I have tried to quit smoking again for the the last 20 years. I have tried everything on the market and have had problems with them. I now have some major medical problems that hopefully will remain as they are and not worsen if I can quit. Do you feel this could be an option for me?Absolutely! Hypnosis is a safe tool that can help someone that is ready to quit by continually reinforcing the suggestion that you are capable of achieving your goal. This suggestion is developed in your own desire to quit. Because the suggestions given during hypnosis are based solely on what you have expressed as your own desires, you are not under the pressure of someone else's expectations and suggestions.||19 Jul, 2016 11:45 AM|
|I had a rash that started over a year ago with intense itching, the rash is gone but the itching is still with me. They say my immune system has turned on me. Doctors took me off of all my meds, I was allergic to most of them. I thought hypnosis may help me to get relief from the itching. Thank you, CarolynYes, certainly hypnotherapy can be helpful with all kinds of conditions especially those that are "automatic" habit patterns such as yours. Hypnosis can help boost the immune system and reduce allergic reactions. Please call for more information.||19 Jul, 2016 11:45 AM|
|How close together are the three sessions? And what if after the sessions I'm still smoking? We normally space the sessions about a week apart, but depending on your individual schedule/needs, we can adjust this accordingly.|
Hypnosis is not a "magic bullet" that will guarantee you will quit smoking. Instead, think of it as a tool to assist you once you have made up your mind and are ready to quit. The sessions, along with the recordings that can be listened to at home, will reinforce your motivation increasing the odds of success. Please call our office if you further questions or to schedule your first session.

|Sarah, I have been trying to recall for over a year now the location of 3 pieces of jewelry that have been misplaced. One of the pieces, diamond earrings, from my deceased husband on our 30th anniversary. I put them out of sight (famous last words) because I was missing some things in my home due to comings and goings of my adult sons acquaintances. Would it be possible for you to help me recall them? I realize that this may be a trivial thing in the grand scheme of life but it would mean a lot to me. Please let me know if you would be able to help.|
Thank you for taking time to read this.Hypnosis is a process that puts you into a state of mind that allows you to focus on a single event and quiet all the other little whispers in your mind that can distract from the goal. With the hypnotist's guidance, you can often recall things under hypnosis that you can't seem to manage on your own. Please call to schedule a time for your session or to ask questions. 828-683-6900

|Hi there...interested in learning and getting certified in hypnosis...obviously too late for August dates but when is next training and what is the cost? Thank you, GeneWe are planning to have a late-fall training seminar (if there is enough interest) around late September and early October. Compared to other training programs in this region, we have been told that our prices are extremely competitive. The cost of the training seminar depends on your personal background and experience. It includes the cost of materials and the first year of membership/certification with the National Guild of Hypnotists. A deposit of $500 is required to register for the course with the remaining balance due at the start (interest-free financing available).|
Also, we do offer private training with Sarah for an hourly fee which allows for people with scheduling restrictions to complete the training program to become a certified hypnotist.
Please note that in order to be certified you have to do the majority of the training in person. If, however, you are only interested in a casual training for personal knowledge, online training is available.

I wonder if I should first see you privately and get over the speech problem and then take the class?
